Day Five - Morning Workout

Today I started out with Simplefit program Level 6 Day 3. This is where you try to see how fast you can perform a set number of reps. Level 6 Day 3 is 32 pull-ups, 64 push-ups and 64 squats. My best ever time was 5:18 in 6 previous attempts at L6D3. My time this morning?

5:06

Sweet. That's 12 seconds off my personal record. Other times for this workout ranged from 6:00 to 11:00 minutes, you know why? Because they were performed in the morning after eating a little something because "that's what you're supposed to do" and I didn't have the energy or strength to do them well. The previous record of 5:18 was done around noon on a day I had off, like 6 hours after I had eaten breakfast.

I then did some squats and bench presses followed by some barbell rows. I finished up with some core work. Total workout time, about an hour, including warm-up.

I'm debating whether I should take a protein shake this morning. I'm fairly certain that protein absorption is most efficient after working out. The only carbs are in the Skim Plus milk, and the GI and GL are low. Yep, new rule, on weight lifting days, protein shakes will be drunk after the workout.

I had a atkins protine shake this morning (didn't have time to make my own)

and it didn't do anything for my energy level. the yogurt thing on the other hand, was a real buzkill

Yeah, same here, protein shake had little effect on how I felt. Probably too much sugar in that yoghurt drink.
